Alden-Conger softball grabs first win

The Alden-Conger softball team picked up its first win of the season Thursday with a 15-8 victory over Madelia-Truman in Madelia.
The Knights (1-3, 1-2) exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning with a pair of home runs. Haley Knutson led off the inning with a solo shot and Nikki Schultz added a three-run bomb. Knutson finished the game 3-for-4 with five RBIs and a triple. Schultz went 2-for-5 with three RBIs.
“We needed this one,” said Alden-Conger head coach Gary Nelson.
Kenzie Martin picked up the win for the Knights. She threw seven innings allowed eight runs on 11 hits and struck out three.
