Bernice Steltzner, 86

Bernice M. Steltzner, 86, of 501 S. Kentucky Ave., Mason City, Iowa, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City, Iowa.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Grace Evangelical Free Church, 440 N. Illinois Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Patrick Drury officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Monday. Family suggests memorials to Bernice M. Steltzner memorial fund and they can be mailed to 15 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Apt. 402, Mason City, Iowa, 50401.
Bernice was born Jan. 4, 1923, in Mason City, the daughter of Clarence and Ida (Nonnweiler) Evanson. She attended school in Forest City, Iowa. 
Following high school she moved to Minneapolis and worked for Greyhound Bus. She later moved to Detroit, where she met William Steltzner and they were married Sept. 1, 1945. To this union they were blessed with two sons Mike and David.
They later moved to Forest City and in 1963 they moved to Mason City. She worked at Mercy Hospital for over 24 years as a nurse’s aide.
She enjoyed celebrating birthdays, holidays, family gatherings, camping, snowmobiling, and especially her church. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church, Mason City.
Bernice is survived by her two daughters-in-law: Fran Steltzner, Mason City, Iowa, and Jane Steltzner, Albert Lea; four granddaughters: Gina Thimmesch and her husband Bruce, Glenville, Julie Steltzner and her fiancé Wally Melton, Mason City, Iowa, Tracy Harty and her husband Scott, Clermont, and Jodie Orfield, Mason City; eight great-grandchildren; grandson-in-law, Chad Orfield, Mason City; and a very dearest friend Mildred Hansen, Forest City, Iowa, and Snuggles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; two sons: Mike and David; three brothers: Marshall, Harry and Richard; and two sisters: Jean and Norva.
