G-E offers trip to winery, railroad museum

On Thursday, June 25, Glenville-Emmons Community Education is sponsoring a trip to Boone and Ames, Iowa. The group will leave Glenville-Emmons High School by coach bus at 7 a.m.
The group will visit Prairie Moon Winery in Ames and have a tour of how the winery was started. There will be a walk out to the vines to see how the grapes are grown. The group will discover how the wine is made and end its visit with a wine tasting.
The next stop is lunch at The Golden Corral in Boone. People will pay for their own lunches at the restaurant.
After lunch, the group will go to Boone and visit the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad & Museum. First, the group will browse the museum. Then it will board a 1920s excursion train and ride in the 1920s-era coach cars. There will be a 1-hour-and-45-minute trip through the Des Moines River Valley. The group will ride from Boone to the old mining town of Fraser and back to Boone. The train is handicap accessible with restrooms on board.
The cost for the trip is $38 not including lunch.
The group will return to Glenville at approximately 6 p.m. Call Glenville-Emmons Elementary at 448-3334 to make a reservation for the trip.
