The Alden-Conger softball team issued 12 walks Tuesday night against Maple River and the Eagles stung the Knights for 17 runs in an 17-1 victory in Alden.
Maple River had just seven hits in the game, but the bases were jammed full of Eagles with the 12 walks Alden-Conger handed out.
While the Knights set them up, Mandi Stencel knocked them in for the Eagles. The junior catcher had four hits, including two doubles and a triple and drove in seven runs on the evening.
Alden-Conger starter Krista Mathiason was tagged for 16 runs in four innings of work.
The Knights managed one run in the fourth inning when Alyssa Maras scored on a Nikki Schultz single.
“We didn’t swing the bats for the first three innings,” said Alden-Conger head coach Gary Nelson.
