The Freeborn County Crime Victims Crisis Center will hold two community leadership previews of the video, “Stop Sexual Violence: Listen and Lead” on April 23 at Riverland Community College in Albert Lea. Two viewing times, each one hour in length, will be offered at 3 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. in Lecture Hall 124 on the Riverland campus. This is an opportunity to introduce the video “Stop Sexual Violence: Listen and Lead,” educate the community about sexual violence and engage community members in the prevention of sexual violence.

Stopping sexual violence means being able to talk about sexual violence.

Approximately 61,000 Minnesotans report being sexually assaulted every year. Every Minnesotan can help stop sexual violence.

In “Stop Sexual Violence: Listen and Lead,” four Minnesotans tell how sexual violence changed them, but did not claim them. Listening to their stories can be difficult, but they survived because others listened. As survivors, civil and law enforcement leaders and advocates tell us, listening is not enough. The film shows us how every Minnesotan has a role to play in bringing an end to sexual violence.

The video is co-produced with the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault, with major funding from the Minnesota Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Crime Victims Crisis Center is Freeborn County’s local agency providing services to any victim of crime, including sexual assault. Our mission is to aid, support and empower crime victims and to educate the community about all forms of victimization in an effort to promote positive societal changes.
