Theodore Monson, 72

Funeral services for Theodore A. Monson, 72, previously of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Bromeland will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors accorded by area veterans organizations.  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Theodore passed away suddenly of natural causes Friday, April 24, 2009, at his home in Lewiston with his wife of nearly nine years, Maryanne, at his side. 
Theodore A. Monson was born on Dec. 5, 1936, to Theodore and Estella Monson and lived in Hollandale, Albert Lea and Clarks Grove area. On Aug. 10, 1958, he married Joan Boettcher in Albert Lea. After spending time in the United States Army, he worked at Wilson Foods in Albert Lea, until 1975 when he retired at age 39. Theodore spent the rest of his years enjoying life and building lasting friendships. In 1994, his wife of 37 years, Joan, passed away of cancer. On July 15, 2000, he married Maryanne Theede. They lived in Lewiston Minnesota until his death. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Maryanne; children: Todd (Gail) Monson, Shelly (Joe) Gold and Dale (Carolyn) Monson; stepchildren: Cindy (Andy) Kronebusch, Kathy (Rod) Fitzgerald, Tom (Katie) Theede, Jodi (Joel) Hennessy, Chad (Shelly) Theede, and other children Katherine (Odean) Nelson and Wayne Monson; 33 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Theodore was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; mother; father; and brother, Dale.
