The Albert Lea softball team dropped both its games with Austin Thursday in Austin.

The Tigers fell 10-0 in five innings in the first game and lost the second game 9-5.

Albert Lea couldn’t solve Packers pitcher Marie Clennon in the first game and managed only three hits.

The Tigers got off to a much better start against Austin’s Jenny Yocom in the second game, tagging her for three runs in the first inning. Yocom was chased after the second game and the Packers inserted Clennon back on the mound. She was just as tough as the first game. She gave up one run in the third and Albert Lea was held scoreless the rest of the way.

Austin scored four runs in the sixth to pull out the victory.

The positive news for the Tigers was that the offense started to get going and four players came through with hits. Caylee Tennis went 2-for-3 in the second game with a triple, Lauren Klick was 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Kristine Kelly was 1-for-4 with a double and Katie Schou was 1-for-2.

Albert Lea plays Mayo Monday.
