USC pitcher loses no-hitter in fifth in 15-1 win

United South Central starter Nick Fure carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning Tuesday against Medford in Medford, only to watch it disappear with two outs and two strikes.

The Tigers ended Fure’s no hit bid and shutout in the bottom of the fifth when they snaked a basehit to score in a 15-1 loss.

Fure won his second game in as many days, throwing five innings, giving up one hit and striking out six.

Fure also got it done at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.

A.J. Dreyer connected for his fourth home run of the season, a grand slam, on his way to a 2-for-2 night with six RBIs.

Dustin Dylla finished 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and William Huper was 2-for-4, scoring three times.

The Rebels (8-4, 6-1) picked up their sixth straight victory and meet up with conference leader Mankato Loyola Thursday in Wells.
