USC/A-C boys’ track team squeaks out win

The USC/A-C Rebels competed in their second track meet of the young season at MSU’s indoor facility Thursday.
The girls finished second to a very good team from Hutchinson. Leading the way with first place finishes for the Rebels were Ciara Christenson in both the 55-meter high hurdles and the 55-meter low hurdles.
Sarah Schultz finished first in the shot put, and Sabrina Bushlack won the high jump.
The other first place finish was recorded by the 4×800 meter Relay team of Hannah Goemann, Abby Trio, Amber Erickson, and Taylor Allis.
The boys won a 1 1/2 point squeeker over Hutchinson in their competition.
E.J. Knight won three events for the Rebels, the long jump, the triple jump, and the 55-meter intermediate hurdles.
Pete Trio led a four-man Rebels sweep of the high jump, and the 4×800 and 4×400 relays teams turned in very fast early-season times in winning those two events.
The 4×800 team is made up of Jay Staloch, Riley Swearingen, Tom Allis, and Jordan Haroldson. The 4×400 team consists of Swearingen, Allis, Haroldson, and Seth Treptow.
“Both the girls and boys ran well,” Rebels head coach Kent Viesselman said. “Between the girls and boys there were 55 performances that were better than a week ago.”
The Rebels were scheduled to open their outdoor season Tuesday at St James. The first home meet will be the Rebel Relays Tuesday, April 14 at the Wells track facility.
