A group of volunteers in Emmons is striving to make a difference in the community and is asking for your help. Their volunteer project will take place on Join Hands Day, Saturday, May 2, a national day of service sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America and other fraternal benefit societies.

The project in Twin Lakes will be planting flowers. The project will begin at 10 p.m. at Twin Lakes Park.

Join Hands Day is the only national day of service designed to bring youth and adults together to plan and implement volunteer service projects in their communities. As the generations work side by side, they learn more about each other, sparking a new level of understanding and respect.

“As a community-minded organization, Modern Woodmen has a proud history of sponsoring Join Hands Day,” said Steve VanSpeybroeck, Modern Woodmen’s fraternal director. “We’re inviting and encouraging other community organizations to join with us to make a difference.”

Lynda Vermedahl, project coordinator for the local initiative, agreed. “On Join Hands Day, we want to improve the quality of life in our area. By connecting with others in the community, we can make an even greater impact.”
