Walks and errors add up for Knights’ softball

The Alden-Conger softball team again fell victim to errors and walks Monday in a 14-2, five-inning loss to Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton in Alden.

The Knights (0-2) trailed 4-2 after the second inning but the Bulldogs broke the game open with six runs in the third and three in the fourth. Selena Gahler blasted Alden-Conger for six RBIs behind a single and a double.

The Knights committed six errors and walked eight hitters.

Alyssa Maras drove in the only runs for Alden-Conger when she connected for a two-run single in the second inning. Jessie Bolinger finished 3-for-3 at the plate and Nikki Schultz hit a triple.

Krista Mathiason was charged with the loss. She lasted just 1 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and walking six.
