The Albert Lea softball team ran into one of the premier teams in the state Tuesday and the result wasn’t pretty.

Mankato West scored a 23-0, five-inning win in the first game of a doubleheader and then came back for an 11-0, five-inning win in the second game.

The Tigers had one hit in the first game against Scarlets’ starter Ashley Veroeven and stuck out eight times.

West connected for 21 base hits.

The woes continued for Albert Lea in the second game as Nikki Starkson no-hit the Tigers.

Albert Lea stuck out seven times and West rapped out 15 hits.
