What started as a probation check at an Albert Lea residence by Albert Lea police officers on Saturday evening resulted in the recovery of items taken in a Worth County, Iowa, burglary.

During the course of the probation check the officers noted several large value items that appeared to be out of place. One of the items was checked against a nationwide database of stolen property and found to have been taken during a burglary in Worth County on April 27.

Five people in the residence were taken into custody and a search warrant was executed at the residence early Sunday morning. The police report said about $4,200 in stolen items were recovered as well as drug paraphernalia.
