The Alden-Conger softball team committed seven errors in the first inning, including five consecutive, in the first inning Thursday against Hayfield in its opening game of the 1A subsection playoffs in an 11-0, five inning loss.

The Knights (6-12) built a threat of their own in the first inning with runners on second and third with no outs but failed to come through with a base hit.

Alden-Conger actually out hit the Vikings 6-5, but eight errors by the Knights told the difference.
