A mistake-filled first inning spoiled what was otherwise a close game for the Glenville-Emmons softball team Thursday night against Hope Lutheran in Glenville.
The Wolverines committed three errors in the first inning that led to three runs for the Patriots as they picked up a 7-3 win.
Despite striking out 18 times against Hope Lutheran ace Felicia Meyer, Glenville-Emmons was able to score three runs.
Devin Cooper scored in the fifth inning on a wild pitch and Danielle Cooper came around to score later on a fielding error as the Wolverines came back to make the score 5-2.
But the Patriots added runs in the top of the sixth and seventh to hold off Glenville-Emmons.
The Wolverines play Monday against Alden-Conger in Glenville.
