Foodborne illness outbreaks — including one involving salmonella-tainted peanut butter — are prompting more proposed legislation in Congress.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar says she plans to introduce a bill that would promote a more rapid national response to outbreaks such as the peanut butter incident.

Klobuchar will appear at a news conference with public health officials on Thursday to release details about the legislation.
