Mayo Clinic announces 5 June concerts

Since June has five Mondays, five performances will usher in the outdoor concert season at Mayo Clinic. Community members are invited to join patients and staff each Monday from 12:10 to 1 p.m. at the Rochester Peace Plaza (corner of First Street Southwest and First Avenue Soutwest) for the Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program concerts.
In case of inclement weather, concerts will be moved to Barbara Woodward Lips Atrium, subway level, Rochester Methodist Hospital, Charlton Building, 10 Third Ave. N.W.
June 1: Acoustic singer and songwriter Peter Mayer will perform songs about interconnectedness and the human journey. Mayer, whose background is in theology and music, began touring full time across the United States in 1995. He has recorded eight CDs and sold 50,000 albums as an independent artist.
June 8: A Wisconsin native who lived for a time in St. Paul, Vicky Emerson now resides in New York City. Emerson, a soulful singer, guitarist, pianist and creative writer, plays more than 250 dates each year around the United States.
June 15: Six Mile Grove will perform an American roots rock concert. The group includes brothers Brandon Sampson, vocals, and Brian Sampson, drums, originally from Lyle. They are joined by Barry Nelson, keyboard, and Dezi Wallace, bass. Six Mile Grove, whose music is grounded in American rock and classic country, has performed with Bob Wootton and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The most recent of Six Mile Grove’s four albums is “Bumper Crop.”
June 22: Honors Choir of Southeastern Minnesota will sing selections from the popular Broadway musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” with music by Andrew Lloyd Weber and lyrics by Tim Rice. The cast includes almost 100 young people from across the region.
June 29: Since 1999, New Primitives has explored the genres of rhythm and blues, ska, reggae, calypso and world dance music. The group performs regularly in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area. Its members are Stanley Kipper, lead vocals, timbales, trap drums and percussion; Chico Perez, percussion and vocals; Joel Arpin, trap drums, percussion and vocals; Matthew Stevens, bass guitar and vocals; Tom Peterson, bass guitar; Brian “Snowman” Powers, saxophones, ewi and vocals; Javier Baldemar Trejo, guitar and vocals; and Dee Jay Trichrome, selector, beats and hype.
