Six area golfers move on to section meet

Six area golfers advanced to the Section 2AA meet from the 2AA subsection meet in Fairmont Tuesday.
United South Central’s Sam Gackstetter was one of two players in the field that broke 80. Gackstetter finished second overall with a 78 and will move on to the section tournament next Tuesday at St. James.
The Rebels finished fourth overall with a team score of 376. Matt Hassing shot 97, Erik Willaby 98 and Seth Olson 103.
St. Peter won the meet with a 364 and LeSueur-Henderson shot 365 for second.
New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva advanced two golfers to the section meet.
Seth Hansen and Aaron Patraw both shot 91 and will make return trips.
The Panthers shot 378 as a team to place fifth overall. Jon Kormann shot 97, Jon Walstrom added a 99 and Dalen Feber shot 100.
The USC girls’ team moved three players on to the section tournament as the team placed fourth overall with a 422.
Blue Earth won the tournament with a 407 while Mankato East finished second with a 408.
Ali Wood and Stephanie Herman each shot 101 and Erinn Hotzler shot 105 to advance to the section tournament.
Kirsten Amberg and Claire Christian each shot 115 for the Rebels.
NRHEG placed sixth with Shelby Whitcomb leading the way. Whitcomb shot 110 which put her in a three-way tie for the final spot in the section tournament. Whitcomb lost out on the section tournament bid in the playoff hole.
Other Panther scores were Jessica Schultz who shot 112, Paige Sorenson, who shot 120 and Abbey Holland who also shot 120.
