Stuart Evenson

Funeral services for Stuart E. Evenson of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the LeSeuer River Lutheran Cemetery, New Richland. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea area veteran’s groups.
Mr. Evenson died Monday, May 25, 2009, at St John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. He was 92 years of age.
Stuart was born Nov. 7, 1916, near New Richland, the son of Oscar and Ella (Sunde) Evenson. He attended country school. On Dec. 12, 1943, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Lake. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Stuart was employed for over 30 years at the Universal Coop in Albert Lea as a welder. He was an active member of the First Lutheran Church and served his country in the U.S. Army as an engineer in the Philippines.
Stuart was a member of the VFW and the American Legion serving on the Veterans Honor Guard. He was also involved in the local union. Stuart loved fishing, playing cards and baseball. The love of his life was his wife and family. He was fun loving and had a great sense of humor.
Stuart is survived by his children: Bill (Evonne) Evenson of Buffalo, Paul (Marly) Evenson of Albert Lea, Gail (Jerry) Rasmussen of Albert Lea, Karen (Walt) Eisen of Faribault. Grandchildren include Jenny (Chad) Weese, Dan (fiancée Missy) Evenson, Tressa (Jason) Patton, Jarod (Jodi Oltman) Evenson, Derek (fiancée Tammy) Evenson, Brady Evenson, Marc Rasmussen, Matt (Myssie Czenkus) Rasmussen, Andria (Scott) Weatherstone, Amber (Chad) Eisen Ramgren, Aaron (Heather) Eisen. There are 17 great-grandchildren; one brother: Oswald (Marge) Evenson of Albert Lea; sisters: Helen Mork of Albert Lea, Lenore (Bob) Johnson of Shakopee, Lois Wasmoen of Albert Lea; and sister-in-law Mary Lou Lake of Seattle.
Stuart was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; sister, Margaret (George) Ellis; and brothers in law: Alvin Mork, Dick Wasmoen, Jim Lake and Jack Lake.
