Windy conditions and difficult greens made life miserable for plenty of golfers Saturday at the Owatonna Country Club and the Albert Lea girls’ golf team was among the victims.
The Tigers managed to finish second at the six-team tournament, shooting a 393 to place behind Eastview, which shot 364.
Albert Lea head coach Shawn Riebe said his team got tentative around the green because of the speed and it cost them.
Megan Pulley finished third overall at the tournament with a 92 as she led the Tigers in scoring.
Kelli Hanson shot a 97 while Taylor Nelson shot 101 and Heather Greibrok 103.
Albert Lea will return to Owatonna Friday for its final regular season conference meet with Owatonna and Mankato West with the conference on the line. The Tigers remain undefeated in the conference but so do the Scarlets.
“We gotta go in Friday with confidence,” Riebe said.
