2 injured in head-on crash on Highway 13

Two people were injured Monday morning after a car crossed over the center line of Minnesota Highway 13 and hit a cement truck in a head-on crash north of New Richland.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 18-year-old Peter Kelly, of New Prague, was flown by a Mayo One helicopter to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, and Bruce Prestegard, 50, of Claremont was transported to a hospital in Waseca.
The report stated Kelly was driving southbound on Highway 13 in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix just before 8:30 a.m. when he crossed the center line and struck a 1995 Oshkosh cement truck traveling northbound. The incident occurred near the intersection of 265th Street.
According to the report, Prestegard was the driver of the truck. He received minor injuries, including facial cuts.
Kelly received nonlife-threatening injuries, including a broken leg.
The report stated it was unknown whether alcohol was involved.
The road conditions at the time were dry.
The Waseca County Sheriff’s Office, Waseca Ambulance and Mayo One assisted.
