Brownville Village Theatre, located in a quaint historic village in southeastern Nebraska, opens its 43rd season on June 12. Nebraska’s oldest repertory theater, the BVT company consists of college and university students presenting five alternating shows Thursdays through Sundays, June 12 through Aug. 16. The 43rd season includes the comedy/farce Holiday Snap, the comedy Wake Up, Darling, the musical The Fantasticks, another comedy Natalie Needs a Nightie, and the thriller The Uninvited.
Nissa Nordland of Albert Lea is returning to Brownville Village Theatre for her third summer. She is the Box Office Manager and is the director of The Uninvited. Nordland will perform roles in The Fantasticks, Natalie Needs a Nightie, and Wake Up, Darling. She is a senior at Southwest Minnesota State University.
The director of BVT, Dr. Charles Harper, points out that the ticket price at BVT has always been a bargain, a fact that is especially important in today’s economy. General admission is $12 for adults and $8 for students 18 years and younger. Discount tickets are available till July 13 for 8 admissions for $60 and 4 admissions for $30. Groups of 10 or more can receive a group rate of $9 per ticket. There is also a dinner and a cruise option for $35 a person. Harper says, “The bargain is even better when you add in the opportunity to meet the company following each performance and enjoy a glass of lemonade.”
