The Lake Mills baseball team climbed back to .500 with an 11-1, six-inning victory over Northwood-Kensett Thursday in Lake Mills.

The Bulldogs had a balanced offensive attack with Chris Throne leading the team with a 2-for-4 night and four RBIs. Scott Abbey added a two-run homer in the bottom of the second that gave Lake Mills a 2-1 lead.

From there the Bulldogs didn’t look back as they continued to put runs on the board. In the fifth they scored four times and added three more runs in the sixth.

Levi Dahle went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs while Alex Grunhovd went 1-for-1 with three runs scored.

Dahle also picked up the win on the mound, tossing 4 1/3 innings and giving up just one run on four hits.

Brad Midlang came on in relief in the fifth inning with runners on first and second with one out, but got the Vikings’ No. 4 hitter to hit into a double play to end the inning.

“It was a good night,” said Lake Mills head coach Jason Blaser. “A lot of guys are hitting the ball well still.”

The Bulldogs take on North Iowa in Buffalo Center Friday before traveling to Northwood for the Vikings’ Saturday tournament.
