The Lake Mills baseball team weathered an early storm and displayed some power Friday in a 16-6 win over Osage in Lake Mills.

The Bulldogs came from behind once again after they fell behind 6-3, but a pair of big home runs from Chris Throne powered Lake Mills (11-5, 5-1 NIC) past the Green Devils to win their eighth consecutive game.

In the fourth inning Throne connected for the first of his two three-run homers to tie the game at 6-6. Throne later blasted a three-run shot in the sixth to end the game as he finished the game 3-for-5 with six RBIs.

Royce Byrnes lifted Lake Mills in the fifth to a 9-6 lead when he hit a three-run homer. Byrnes finish 2-for-4 with five RBIs.

The Bulldogs held a 2-0 lead after the first inning after Levi Dahle hit a two-run single, but six errors in the game allowed Osage to rally to take the lead in the second.

“It was definitely a different game than what I anticipated,” said Lake Mills head coach Jason Blaser. “You can definitely tell they were upset with their play.”

Wade Hebrink picked up the win on the mound as he went six innings and gave up eight hits. Hebrink didn’t allow an earned run and struck out six.

The Bulldogs face West Hancock Monday in a doubleheader in Lake Mills.
