Celebration, rally, festival make weekend a busy one

It’s another very busy weekend in the Albert Lea-Freeborn County area.
The Vestlandslag Stevne Centennial Celebration is going on at the America’s Best Value Inn through Saturday.
Also, the Family Motor Coach Association rally is taking place at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds through Saturday.
The Albert Lea Knights Youth Baseball will host a 20-team tournament at Snyder Fields beginning Friday at 6 p.m. through Sunday. There will be brackets for 9U, 10U and 11U.
Also, Morin Lake Days activities will be in full swing. See the complete schedule to the left.
Following is a roundup of other events happening in the area this weekend.
Friday, June 19
The Bonnie Broitzman, Steve Tubbs, Chris Charlson and Dustin DeBoer exhibits will be open at the Albert Lea Art Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Albert Lea Noon Kiwanis Club will hold a car wash for kids from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Nelson’s Shell Station, 116 Bridge Ave. Proceeds go toward projects for youths.
The Pelican Breeze will hold a pizza cruise from 6 to 7:30 pm. Reservations are needed by 4 p.m.; call 383-2630.
Bar Games in Northwood, Iowa, will host the bands Lipstick Homicide, Thanks, Ring of Truth and Brotherhood of the Mudkat starting at 9 p.m. For ages 18 and older.
Saturday, June 20
Harmony Junction Barbershop Chorus will hold a pancake breakfast at Applebee’s from 7 to 10 a.m. Cost is $5 per person. Kids 6 and younger eat free.
The Albert Lea Farmers Market will be open in the North Broadway Avenue parking lot from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Tiny Brandt family benefit will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Moose Club, 1623 Main St., Albert Lea. A sloppy joe dinner will be served for $6 per person. There will also be a silent auction.

The Humane Society of Freeborn County will hold an adoption day at the Albert Lea Seed House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be dogs and cats on site for adoption and also a list and photos of other pets the Humane Society has up for adoption. In addition to the adopt-a-thon, there will be a silent auction with items and gift certificates from local area businesses. There will be a wide selection of items to choose from in various price categories.
A free coffee house concert for adults will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. at Crossroads Evangelical Free Church, 3402 Hoeger Lane, Albert Lea. Music will be provided by the Twin Cities band, “3 Days Till Sunrise.” There will be door prizes, including tickets to Valleyfair and dinner for two. Food and child care will be available. Sunday, June 21
The Albert Lea Elks Club will hold a Father’s Day pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pancakes, eggs, hash browns, sausage, juice and coffee or milk will be served for $5 per person.
The Alden Lions will hold a pancake breakfast near Morin Lake in Alden from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice, milk and coffee will be served. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 6 to 12 and children 5 and younger eat free.
The Pelican Breeze will hold a public cruise from 1:30 to 3 p.m. No reservations are needed.
Big Ben and the Brians Band will play at 1:30 p.m. at the Edgewater Park bandshell. The band plays country music, old-time waltzes and polkas as well as pop tunes. The band includes Ben Stuart on bass, horn and guitar, Brian Raichle on drums and Brian Klouse on concertina.
The Pelican Breeze will host a “Take Your Dad Fishing” cruise from 4 to 5:30 p.m. You must have a valid fishing license to fish. Reservations are needed by 2 p.m. Saturday. Calal 383-2630.
