The Albert Lea Colonels couldn’t overcome a poor start Sunday in a 4-1 loss on the road in Faribault.
The Colonels (0-9, 0-7 Southern Minny) committed two errors in the first inning which led to three unearned runs and Albert Lea couldn’t mount a response.
The Colonels tallied just four hits and stranded eight runners on base, including failing to score with the bases loaded in the ninth.
“Again we didn’t get the key hit when we needed it,” said Albert Lea head coach Bill Trygstad.
Casey Woodside went 2-for-3 and Taylor Ignasewski went 2-for-4. Ignasewski drove in the Colonels only run in the seventh.
Albert Lea faces Owatonna Wednesday at Hayek Field.
