On May 14, Pack 72 of Tiger Cubs, along with some parents and siblings, toured American Bank to learn about the banking world and the importance of saving. These first-graders turned the change in their piggy banks into dollars and run their money through the coin machine. After the tour, the cubs had cookies and lemonade and asked bank employees questions such as, “What happens to the check my Grandma gives me for Christmas?” and “How do you have enough time to count all the money in each account every day?” Following the question-and-answer portion of the visit, bank employees shared facts on starting to save. They learned that if they deposited $20 in the bank every week between now and their high school graduation, they would save over $12,000.
