Virgel Gore

Graveside services for Virgel “Earl” and Norma Gore will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea.
Virgel Earl Gore joined Norma on May 3, 2009. Norma passed away on Jan. 4, 2008.
Earl was born in Story City, Iowa, on Jan. 8, 1917, the son of James Virgel and Theresa Gore.
Norma Gore was born in New Richland on May 17, 1922, the daughter of Charley and Lena Galkin.
Earl served in the Minnsota State Guard from March 31, 1943, to Jan. 1, 1944, and served as a member of the Civil Air Patrol from March 31, 1943, to March 31, 1946.
Earl and Norma married in Albert Lea on Jan. 6, 1945, and made their home in Albert Lea. Earl retired from Weyerhauser in Albert Lea. He enjoyed taking his family fishing and hunting.
Norma retired from Streater in Albert Lea. She was a loving wife and mother of three children, Larry, Rollin and Kathleen.
After retirement, they traveled around the United States visiting friends, relatives and seeing the country. They were rockhound enthusiasts and crafters and collected many semi-precious gems from around the United States. Earl and Norma lived their golden years in Arkansas.
They were preceeded in death by two sons, Rollin and Larry Gore; their parents; brothers; sisters; and nephews.
Earl and Normal are survived by their daughter, Kathleen, and her husband Mike Terry; two grandchildren, Mike and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Trey, Brynn and Kanin; two brothers, Pete Galkin of Albert Lea and Claude (Sparky) Gore of Glenville; and nieces and nephews.
