Jeff Schei of First Baptist Church of Clarks Grove was the winner of the Ice Cream Eating Contest that Cold Stone Creamery hosted on June 25 at Trail’s Travel Center. Ten local church leaders came out and put their “spoons to the test” to win $1,000 for their church or ShineFest. In addition, 20 percent of the sales at Cold Stone Creamery and Trail’s Family Restaurant from 3 p.m. to close on that night were donated to ShineFest 2009. Kneeling in the front row, from left, are Matt Hundley from Vineyard; Emily Phelps from Salvation Army; Clayton Balsley from First Baptist; Dirk DeVries from Hollandale Christian Reformed; and Lisa Hanson from Grace Christian. Back: singer and songwriter Joey Holiday; Kim Haney, Cold Stone Creamery manager; Glen Stevens from Crossroads Church; Tyler Bock, Cold Stone Creamery assistant manager; John Holt from First Lutheran; Kip Jentoft from Our Father’s House; Jeff Schei from First Baptist of Clarks Grove; Steve Klingman, Trail’s Travel Center general manager; and Jay Dahlvang from Salem Lutheran. ShineFest participants honor Christ with work projects. This year ShineFest week of service is planned for Aug. 17-22.
