Colonels can’t solve Srp, Waseca in loss

Albert Lea wasn’t able to figure out Waseca starter Caleb Srp once again as the Colonels fell 10-0 to the Braves Wednesday in Waseca.

Albert Lea (2-12) had just three hits against Srp and struck out eight times. Srp picked up his second complete-game shutout victory over the Colonels this season after he picked up a 10-0 win June 17 in Albert Lea.

The Colonels trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but the Braves erupted for nine runs in the frame after an error kicked off the inning.

Albert Lea continued to struggle with Waseca’s small ball as three of the Braves’ six hits in the inning were bunt singles.

“We didn’t show up to play as well as we should have,” said Colonels manager Bill Trygstad.

Until the sixth Albert Lea had allowed just one earned run.
