New Richland jumps out to early lead in victory

The New Richland American Legion baseball team ended the season on a high note Thursday with a 6-1 win over Glenville-Emmons in Glenville.

Post 75 got to work right away in the first with four hits to push three runs across for a 3-0 lead.

Colton Schlaak had an RBI single in the first and finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the win.

Matt Tomsche added a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI and a run while Chad Schlaak finished 2-for-3 with two runs.

Glenville-Emmons tallied seven hits in the game but was thrown out at home twice in the game and stranded four runners.

“They just jumped out on us and we never got our footing,” said Glenville-Emmons head coach Cary Williamson.

Cody Kraay went seven innings and allowed one run on seven hits and struck out six for the win.

Glenville-Emmons finishes the regular season Friday on the road against Hayfield.
