Volunteers make first kids’ triathlon successful

The organizers of the first Land Between the Lakes Triathlon would like to congratulate all those participants and their parents for being part of such a successful event. We would also like to thank our volunteers, who assisted in areas too numerous to mention to assure a safe and well organized race. Without great volunteers, no race could exist.

Thank you to the following volunteers: Karol Hansen, Phil and Rocky Scheevel, Jim Stark, Martin Irmiter, Johanna and Kelsey Thomas, Ann Austin, Butch and Jill Harves, Tom Jones, Steve and Cindy Merfeld, Joe and Mollee Tscholl, Dawn Ware, Jenna Indireli, JoAnn Bracker, Lorna Berg, Peggy Newell, Mike Murtaugh, Kate Schrieber, Dyon and Wendy Greenfield, Victoria Simonsen, Beth Faber, Heather Heitman, Sue Erlandson, Marsha and Kendal Langseth, Julie and Alyssa Sager, Dave and Carol Wolter, Greg Deyak, Michelle Wiens, Kristin Seeger, Beth Smalley, Jill Johnson, Julie Nafzger, Michelle Servertson, Lisa Dugger, Carol Bosma, Rachelle Bizjak, Jackie Cromwell-Olson, Renee Holcomb and Dr. Maria Loerzel.

In addition, the Land Between the Lakes race coordinators would like to thank the following area business who donated products and services. Hyvee, Martin’s Cycling and Fitness, Western Rental, Celebrations, Uptown Sound, the city of Albert Lea and their park and recreation department’s pool staff. Each of theses businesses had a very important role in making the event what it was and we hope to have their support next year in addition to others.

Congratulations to all on a successful event.

Golf outing had great support

The United Way of Freeborn County thanks everyone who supported the community through our sixth annual golf outing. The day was beautiful, the course was great and the food was fabulous. The event raised $5,200 for the 2009 United Way Campaign.

Congratulations to the men from Minnesota Corrugated Box who achieved first place with a best shot tournament score of 60!

Thank you to the staff at Green Lea who assured everything ran smoothly and to all the people who volunteered their time to help out with the event.

Thank you, also, to Hy-Vee Food Store for providing hotdogs and beverages during the event. And thank you to all the businesses who donated raffle items for the event.
