Post 56 gets scrappy in victory

The Albert Lea American Legion baseball team capitalized on the few chances it had Thursday against Waseca for an 8-1 win in Waseca.
Post 56 tallied just three hits against Waseca starter Dan Bomsta, but the three hits were run producing knocks.
That’s all Albert Lea needed as starter Jordan Cooper kept Waseca at bay for most of the evening.
Post 56 (5-4) took advantage of Bomsta’s 11 walks as Cole Sorenson delivered a two-run base hit and Colby Strilaeff added a two-run base hit. Logan Kortan had the other hit for Albert Lea.
Cooper was superb on the mound as he delivered seven innings of two-hit ball. Cooper allowed one unearned run and struck out five in the win.
The defense behind Cooper was strong as well, committing just one error while Waseca’s made four.
Post 56 returns to action Friday at Hayek Field at noon in a doubleheader with Winona.
