Recommendation is a ‘slippery slope’

Mr. (David) Larson erred greatly in his July 19, Love in Action, article. He states “This is a compromise of sorts,” when the truth is, it completely changes how the church and Jesus recognized marriage as being between a man and a woman (Mark 10: 6-9) also in Mark 10: 19 “honor your father and mother.” There is nothing in the Bible about father and father or mother and mother.

This conscience, or “bound conscience” as some like it, is nothing more than doing what one feels like, forget what the Bible says. Wrong. Yes, Jesus protected the prostitute, but he also said to her “go and sin no more.” This latter part is usually overlooked by people who mention the first part.

According to Larson’s reasoning, we are judging and rejecting individuals. What is rejected is the homosexual lifestyle, not the homosexual. There is nothing” brilliant” about the Lutheran church recommendation; it is a slippery slope that is not for Bible-believing Christians. This recommendation would change the basic beliefs and teachings of the Bible.
