USC Legion cruises past Lake Crystal

Six strong innings from United South Central starter Nick Fure and William Huper’s bat helped lead the American Legion baseball team past Lake Crystal Thursday in Lake Crystal.

It was deuces wild for Fure as he gave up two runs on two hits, struck out two and walked just two for an 8-2 victory.

While Fure shut down the Lake Crystal offense, Huper was busy keeping his team in front with his bat. Huper went 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Huper connected for a two-run homer and hit a two-run single for USC (10-5) as it tries to position itself for a No. 1 or No. 2 seed for the league playoffs, which begin July 16.

Dustin Dylla also stroked a two-run double in the second inning as he finished 2-for-4 in the game.
