The three people who died when a semi crashed into a Honda Odyssey minivan Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 90 were from Iowa. One was an adult and two were children, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The driver was 46-year-old Soubink Khemphomma, 46, of Waterloo. The children were Bambi Khemphomma, 13, of Waterloo, and Christi Khemphomma, 11, also of Waterloo.

The driver of a Toyota Corolla in the crash was Gloria Anderson, 62, who was on her way home to St. Charles, Ill., with a car packed with belongings. The Honda and the Toyota were complete losses.

Randy Pedersen, 56, of Swaledale, Iowa, was the driver of the tractor-trailer. He was uninjured, but the truck was damaged.

I-90 was down to two lanes at the time. According to the State Patrol, Anderson’s eastbound car crossed the center line and struck the front of the semi.

Pedersen told the Albert Lea Tribune that his steering no longer functioned after the collision, causing his westbound truck to cross into the eastbound lanes, striking the Honda minivan.
