Racy rock concert is reason for concern

Although I have a Northwood address, I live just south of Emmons, only 13 miles from Diamond Jo Casino where the Rock Gone Wild events will take place Aug 20-24. I’m wondering if the local communities know and understand these events. Go to rockgonewild.com and get your belly full of information you will find disturbing.

These events “somehow” quietly got “moved” from Algona to our community. The promoters are now changing the name of their “Sinner’s Lounge” to “The Platinum Lounge,” with large enough seating for 500 and with champagne fountains, pole dancers and screen dancers. It takes a more expensive ticket to get into this “lounge.” The prices for the concert events, tent camping and RV parking are exhorbitant.

Who will benefit from these events? You and me?

If you look at the rock bands coming to these events, you will want to question the “followers” who will also be here in our towns, our restaurants and hotels. Judge for yourself if this is the type of event we want now or again. Voice your concerns, as I plan to, to the casino, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, the promoter and anyone sponsoring it out of Mason City. Be informed.
