Kate Ellertson, 16, Albert Lea, was injured when the bicycle she was riding was struck by a vehicle at 2:46 p.m. Thursday in the 2500 block of North Bridge Avenue near the Dairy Queen location, according to a city police report.

Ellertson went over the vehicle’s hood and into the vehicle’s windshield, a police department spokesman added. She was taken to the Albert Lea Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, Wensaslao Mario Hernandez, 31, of Austin, was cited by police with no driver’s license and no insurance. His vehicle was towed away, the report said.

Ellertson was discharged from the Albert Lea Medical Center.
