Albert Lea alum runs at Griak Invite

Former Albert Lea cross country runner Ethan Marquardt competed this past weekend at the Roy Griak Invitational at the Les Bolstad University of Minnesota Golf Course.
Marquardt, who now runs for the University of South Dakota, was the No. 1 runner for the Coyotes with his time of 26 minutes, 36 seconds in the 8-kilometer race. Marquardt finished 80th overall in the renowned event.
Marquardt finished as the team’s second runner on Sept. 19 when he ran a time of 26:32.7 at the Woody Greenoo/Nebraska Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
Prior to that South Dakota opened the season in Vermillion, S.D. where Marquardt was the No. 2 runner for the Coyotes. Marquardt clocked a 26:24 and finished fifth overall at the meet.
His next meet is scheduled for Oct. 3 in Brookings, S.D., for the South Dakota State Classic.
