Barbara LeBeau, 91

The memorial service for Barbara Alison LeBeau of Albert Lea will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Visitation with her family will be one hour before the service. Memorial in lieu of flowers are preferred to the Courage Center 3915 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, MN 55422.
Barbara died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. Albert Lea. She was 91 years old.
Barbara was born Feb. 14, 1918, at Hibbing, to Hal and Margaret (Hare) Brown. She graduated from Hibbing High School and Carlton College, Northfield, with a liberal arts degree. Barbara lived at Buhl, Osakis and Albert Lea. She was married to Gordon LeBeau. Barbara was a substitute teacher for Albert Lea High School. In 1958, she began teaching English at the Glenville High School and retired in 1978. Barbara was a member of the AAUW. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and writing poetry. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Twins, Vikings and Gophers and relaxing at her lake home on Lake Pokegama in Northern. Her family was very important, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her two children: Susan Mathews and her husband Lyle of Austin, Texas, and Phil LeBeau and his wife Maridee of Savage; sister, Doris Hagge of Grand Rapids; grandchildren: Steven Mathews, Carolyn Mathews-Jamison, Chad LeBeau, Aimee Hayes and Molly Iwaskewycz; great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Charlie, Ainsley, Gavin, Addyson and Liam.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents: Hal and Margaret Brown; husband, Gordon LeBeau; and brother, Bruce Brown.
