Evelyn Teigland

Evelyn Teigland, age 78 of Owatonna, formerly of Winnebago, died on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Owatonna Commons Nursing Home in Owatonna. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in Winnebago. Burial will be in Rice Lake Cemetery in rural Delavan. Visitation will be on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago from 4 to 7 p.m. and continuing one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Evelyn was born on Jan. 5, 1931, in Delavan, the daughter of Warren and Lilah (Whitney) Wallace. Evelyn was raised and educated in the Delavan area. On Oct. 24, 1948, she married Herbert Teigland at Delavan. The two moved to the Winnebago area in 1955. She worked at the Winnebago High School lunch program for a few years before her and Herbert opened Teigland Clothing Store in Winnebago. The two worked together until Herbert’s death in 1993, Evelyn continued to operate the store until 2001. In 2007 Evelyn moved to Oak Park Place in Albert Lea then shortly after she moved to Owatonna Commons Nursing Home in Owatonna. Evelyn was a long time member of the United Methodist Church in Winnebago, was a member of the Red Hat Club and enjoyed animals, gardening and being with her grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by one son, Herbert W. (Colleen) of Fort Dodge, Iowa; two daughters, Eileen (Steven) Reese of Austin; Elaine (Michael) Poole, of Shakopee; four grandchildren, Andrew (Lindsey) Reese, Matthew Reese, Michelle Poole and Phillip Poole. Evelyn is also survived by one brother Lloyd (Deanne) Wallace of Delavan.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister; Helen Andersen; and brother-in-law Clifford Andersen.
