The Glenville-Emmons football team can say it has two wins on the season for the first time in four years after a 36-12 thrashing of LeRoy-Ostrander.

The win was the first time the Wolverines (2-1, 2-1 SEC) have beaten the Cardinals (0-3, 0-3 SEC) in more than a decade and once again it was senior running back Michael Thofson leading the charge.

Thofson, a converted tight end, rushed 34 times for 182 yards and two touchdowns as Glenville-Emmons took a 16-0 first quarter lead and never looked back. Thofson also added 75 yards receiving for 257 total yards offense.

“He’s really worked hard in the offseason to prepare himself,” said Wolverines head coach Derek Nelson.

Quarterback Zack Williamson threw for 180 yards and two touchdown and Peter Hansen returned a punt 54 yards to help lead Glenville-Emmons to its second victory of the year.

The Wolverines totaled 432 yards on offense as Perry Kirsch scored his third touchdown of the season on a 31-yard pass from Williamson and Tyler Woodside caught his second touchdown of the season on a 2-yard reception in the first quarter.

“We’re starting to hopefully hit our stride here,” Nelson said.

Glenville-Emmons will get tested in the next two weeks when it faces Lanesboro, a team that just knocked off No. 5-ranked Mabel-Canton Friday and Houston, the defending Nine-man state champion the following Friday.
