It isn’t necessary to travel to the metro area to experience an intimate niche theatre performance. We have a gem right here in Albert Lea called the Lighthouse.

This past weekend we were among the fortunate few who shared a polished, professional version of “Inherit the Wind.” This play has a deep, thought-provoking message and large characters. The actors carried these parts with ease.

The historicity of the story is not the point. The play is a dramatization of a divisive theme in our social culture handled with thoughtful care and respect for the human intellect and spirit.

The message of the power of ideas had a profound effect on me personally when I read it as a high school student and after all these years it has not lost its power to move me.

I am grateful to our local talent for bringing this story to life. If you missed this performance you missed something special.
