Ione Morris, 85

Longtime Wichita Falls, Texas, resident, Ione Morris, passed away after a brief illness at the age of 85. A memorial service celebrating Ione’s life will be held at 2 p.m. this Saturday at First Presbyterian Church chapel on Taft Boulevard across from Midwestern State University. The service will be officiated by Dr. Issac Butterworth.
After moving to Wichita Falls in 1965, Ione was very active in the community. She was a long time administrative officer at the City National Bank, and was a former president of both the Women of Rotary and the Desk & Derrick Club. She was also a member of P.E.O., as well as a member of the Adelphia adult Sunday School class at First Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of several bridge clubs in the area.
Ione is preceded in death by her father and mother, Peter and Olava Knutson; and brothers: Paul and Vernon Knutson, all of Minnesota.
She is survived by a brother, Clare Knutson, of Albert Lea, and sisters: Polly Sponberg of New Richland and Elaine Buley of LaSueur; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her husband of 54 years, Tom Morris Sr., of Wichita Falls; son, Tom Jr., and wife, Laura, along with grandchildren: Thomas III, Sarah, and Chandler Morris all of Plano, Texas; and daughter, Karen Kauffman, and husband, Dr. Jim Kauffman, along with grandchildren: Matthew and Kimberly Kauffman all of Katy Texas.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Health South for their help with Ione, as well as Pat Gilbreath for her support of the family! In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made celebrating Ione’s life to either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Services are provided by Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home, and condolences can be sent to the family at their home.
