A Waterloo man has pleaded guilty to wounding a teenager sitting in a car.
Justin Montravious Dollen pleaded to willful injury causing serious injury, carrying weapons, intimidation with a weapon and going armed with intent in Black Hawk County District Court.
As a result of entering the plea Monday, a charge of attempted murder against the 19-year-old Dollen was dropped.
Dollen was sentenced to 17 years in prison, with 10 of the years mandatory.
According to prosecutors, Dollen shot 18-year-old Shane Quinn Burt of Waterloo in the chest while sitting in a car parked in the lot of a liquor store on May 21, 2008. Dollen was arrested a month later.
At the time of the shooting, Dollen was on probation for a prior conviction.
