The Mankato Free Press this morning reports incidents of violence in that city, one being what appears to be a random sexual assault.
The alleged rape occurred at 12:43 a.m. Sunday, according to the Mankato Police Department.
In a report to police, a woman states she was walking in an alley when she was grabbed from behind, forced to the ground and sexually assaulted. Officers responded but no one could be found.
She described the man as a stocky Hispanic with a moustache, about 5 feet 9 inches. She said he wore dark clothes and a necklace hanging to the middle of his chest.
Police ask anyone with information to call (507) 387-8780. The incident is said to have happened near Van Brunt Street and State Street.
In another case, officers forced their way into a home on Broad Street to break up a teen knife fight over a set of car keys, the newspaper reports.
And in another case, police arrested teens for bias crimes (using racial slurs) after a crash involving a police car.
