The Salem Lutheran (Albert Lea) Women’s Executive Board met on Sept. 1. President Judy Dilling presided. Other leaders present were: Sharon Dilling, Eleanor Schember, Marianne DePoppe, Shirley Noaeill, Valta Hestness, Mary Gulbrandson, Lois Anderson and Mary Thompson. Devotions titled “Today is a gift, that is why it is called The Present” were given by Pauline Hall.
Thank yous were expressed to circles who provided food for the Bloodmobile, St. John’s coffee hour and for salads provided for Salem’s recent women’s retreat. A thank-you was received from the parents of Isabella Drescher who was honored with a baptismal rose by Salem WELCA. An invitation was received from St. John’s to attend its auxiliary benefit luncheon on Oct. 10 from 11 to 1 p.m.
Two quilts and two decorated pillow cases were delivered to Good Earth Village from Salem’s Sew’N Tell ladies for the Sept. 19 quilt auction.
September is thank offering month. Circles were reminded this offering will be given to the Salvation Army Food Shelf. Salem ladies attended Mission Study Day at the Presbyterian Church on Sept. 4. Plans were made for delegates from Salem to attend the ELCA Women’s Convention at Rochester on Sept. 26, with reminders to circles to prepare the Love Offering Health Kits and Jar Projects for that event. Salem ladies will serve and furnish dessert at three St. John’s coffee hours in 2010. Twenty-two Salem shut-in members were called on by Remembrance Committee in August and the Sew’N Tell group met Aug. 12 and 26, packing used clothing for the Marie Sandvik Center, Appalachia and the V.A. and quilts were made for the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester.
The next meeting will be Monday, Oct. 5.
