Curtis Waage, 72

Funeral services for Curtis Loren Waage, 72, of Geneva, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church of Ellendale. The Rev. Arne Halbakken will officiate. Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery Ellendale. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Curtis died Sept. 30, 2009.
Curtis Loren Waage was born on Sept. 13, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Loren and Betty Jean (Anderson) Waage. The family lived in Albert Lea for a short time then moved to Ellendale where Curtis grew up and attended school. He served in the Army in the early 1960s. On Sept. 11, 1964, Curtis was united in marriage to Judith Mrotz at the First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. Curtis worked at Wilson’s and farmed until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. Curtis loved watching sports, especially the Twins and Vikings. He enjoyed taking care of his lawn and in his retirement, he enjoyed helping his brother and nephew farm. Curtis especially loved the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of Geneva; children: Jeff Waage of Owatonna and Jolene (Tim) Sorenson of Geneva; grandchildren: Paige Sorenson, Tyler Sorenson, and Madysen Waage; father, Loren (Bud) Waage, of Ellendale; brother, Dale (Jani) Waage, of Ellendale; sisters: Gretta Lageson of Ellendale, Mary (Vernie) Busho of Nisswa, Linda (Danny) Wagner of New Richland, and Cynthia (Chuck) Crabtree of Ellendale; many nieces and nephews.
Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Waage of Ellendale; and brother, Mike Waage of Tucson, Ariz.
