Doris Karow

Doris Anne Karow, 81, of Owatonna died on Oct. 29, 2009, at her home. Doris was born in Faribault on July 18, 1928, to Earl and Mary Alice (Jeno) Pofahl. She graduated from Faribault’s Bethlehem Academy in 1946. Doris married Wayne Karow on 1947 and following their marriage they lived in Owatonna.
Doris was a homemaker while her children were young, and once they were raised she worked 22 years for Truth Hardware until retirement in 1992. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of the Legion of Mary Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting and baking. Survivors include her son, Gerald (Delores) Karow of Albert Lea; five daughters, Sharon (Bert) Dwyer of Owatonna, Denise Hendley of Mankato, Nancy Pena of Owatonna, Diane Fischer of Owatonna and Jeanette Carranza of Austin; former son-in-law Carlos Carranza of Austin; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian (Richard) Jones of Faribault and Joan Minke of Long Prairie; two brothers, Earl (Francis) Pofahl of Faribault and Robert Pofahl of Sun City, Ariz. and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Patricia Bongers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Owatonna. The rosary will be recited prior to the visitation at 3:45 pm today at the church. An hour of visitation will also precede the funeral at church on Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery; Faribault. Memorials are preferred to Owatonna’s St. Mary School. Funeral arrangements completed with the Brick-Meger Funeral Home.
