A couple of quirky plays early and a strong fourth quarter pushed Edgerton past Alden-Conger in a 32-8 victory in Edgerton Wednesday.

The Flying Dutchmen (6-1, 6-1 SMC) scored their first touchdown on a 64-yard pass play. Brady Timmer collected a pass that richotted off an Alden-Conger defender and an Edgerton player’s helmet.

The Knights (3-4, 3-4 SMC) responded in the second quarter when Max Keller scored from 42 yards out to tie the game.

Another unusual play occurred later in the second quarter when the Flying Dutchmen converted a long third down play, which was opened up when an Alden-Conger defender fell into the referee. A couple of plays later and Chace Hulstein punched it in from 2 yards out to take a 14-8 lead.

The second half was more Timmer and Hulstein as Timmer went on to score two more times, including a 79-yard run, and Hulstein added a 5-yard touchdown run.

The Knights had just five first downs in the game and 200 yards of total offense.
